5 Poppy Crafts For Remembrance Day

Honour this historic day and show respect for the fallen by making a whole host of DIY goodies

5 Poppy Crafts For Remembrance Day

1. Poppy painting

Channel your inner Van Gogh and create an artistic design to hang on your wall or to give as a gift to a friend. To create the flower, draw an outline with a pencil, paint within the outline using red acrylic paint, then use black paint to make the dot in the middle. Add your stem and leaves using green paint for the final touch.

2. Poppy Wreath

What better way to remember the fallen than with a poppy wreath? A wreath form, glue and a handful of faux poppies is all you'll need. Glue your poppies one by one to the form before attaching a piece of string, so that you can hang your make from the door. You're sure to receive praise from your neighbours!

3. Painted blanket

If you've got a white blanket lying around, adding painted poppies will bring it to life. Get your paintbrushes and fabric paints ready and add as many poppies as you'd like, but remember to allow your artwork to dry before you cuddle up and get cosy. You'll add a pop of colour to your décor, plus you'll be paying homage to veterans all year round, too.

4. Poppy cookies

Put your baking skills to the test and create beautiful poppy-inspired cookies. There are plenty of recipes out there for you to look through, or you could try adding cranberries or raspberries to your bakes for a poppy-coloured treat. Just remember to make enough for your friends and family once November 11th comes round.

5. Crochet poppies

Crochet beautiful poppies to give to friends or to dot around the home. It's a pretty simple project which can be done in an afternoon. Follow any tutorial online, but don't forget that you can add a splash of glitter for even more originality. Once done, you'll be full of pride!
