7 Creative ways to use calligraphy

Whether you're a newcomer to calligraphy or a bit of a maestro, you'll soon discover that it's an extremely versatile craft. Learn to love lettering with these 7 fab ideas...

7 Creative ways to use calligraphy

1. Party invites

Bring the wow-factor to your invites with a little calligraphy. If writing every word in a fancy font is too time consuming, stick to a simpler font for the main body of text and write the names of each recipient in calligraphy.

2. Stationery labels

Jazz up your office with some beautiful handmade stationery labels. Start with some plain white adhesive labels in different shapes and sizes, some calligraphy pens and a few font ideas. It's a good idea to choose an easy-to-read font, as you'll want to be able to identify stationery items quickly.

3. Bullet journal

These little journals are all the rage – and it's not hard to see why! They're so easy to customise with your favourite fonts, images and designs, so you can really get creative.

4. Greetings card

Everyone will appreciate a homespun card with ornate lettering. Don't stop at just writing on the inside of the card – create a lettered design for the front with your recipient's name or a meaningful greeting, and decorate with scrolls and swirls for a really special effect. Why not try using our Kanban Kraft Cards Collection.

5. Wall hanging

Have you got a meaningful phrase you'd like to display in your home? Use your calligraphy skills to turn it into a stylish wall hanging!

6. Place cards

If you're hosting a swish dinner party, or even just want to make evenings a little more special, a set of place cards are the way to go. Decorate tent-fold card blanks with calligraphy names in your font of choice and add extra decoration if you wish. Why not take it even further and create a matching menu too?

7. Scrapbooking

Have you recently been on a trip, had a special occasion or have a special memory you'd like to document? For avid crafters, scrapbooking is the way to go. Add little labels, titles and captions in your favourite calligraphy styles to make your scrapbook extra special! Try using our Craftwork Cards Badges, Banners Labels and Tags Collection.
