For plans between Christmas and New Year or last-minute festive makes, look no further than these speedy projects
If you’re seeing relatives in the interim between Christmas and new Year, or just need a last-minute card, this is the make for you. Simply create long candles from strips of complementary washi tape, layering at angles on the centre of a white card blank. Next, use coloured felt-tips to draw the wick and flames, and finish by stamping a sentiment. Simple!
If you've got a small gift that's calling out for imaginative wrapping, look no further than this washi gift box. Start with a small, plain cardboard box or an old jewellery box. Next, select several washi tapes in complementary colours and patterns, then carefully cover the lid and box with alternating lines of tape. Et voila – a great little box for presenting your present!
Ideal for sharing memories with loved ones, photo frames have long been a top gift idea – make it extra special by jazzing one up with some washi tape! For a simple frame, use a few coordinating types of washi tape and adhere in a stacked design – if you can use your recipient's favourite colours, even better. Once the frame is covered, adhere letter stickers to spell out a sentiment and add any embellishments you like.
Organising your stationery never looked so fun! To make a pen pot, start with a tin can or empty cardboard tub, then cover in alternating strips of jazzy tape. You could try adhering the word “pens” or “pencils” using stickers, stamps or lettering and adding any other fun embellishments you like, such as glitter and ribbon.
We love an upcycling project – which is why we were overjoyed when we discovered this crafty idea of turning old mint tins into hair grip storage pots! To make, simply cover a clean, empty mint tin in the washi tape of your choice, then add fun embellishments on top and fill with your hair grips. You'll never leave them lying around the house again!
We couldn't help but add a last Christmas project into the mix! Even if these only get used for a few days, you’ll appreciate them for years to come. Start by getting hold of some clear plastic baubles and festive washi tape. Then carefully stick lengths of tape to the bauble, criss-crossing them to make a simple snowflake shape. All that's left to do is hang these gorgeous decorations from your tree.
Here's another great project to help you keep track of New Year's crafting projects. You'll need a plain, square or rectangular notice board, and a roll of washi tape in your favourite colour or pattern. Start by drawing a horizontal line through the centre of the bord in pencil, then a vertical line through the centre. Using these lines as a guide, starting from the centre, creat a diamond shape by sticking washi tape at a 90 degree angle between lines, then create larger diamond shapes leaving space between. Once you've finished, you'll have a cool geometric pattern that's sure to help you get organised!
