Whether you’re in charge of hosting, decorating or finding the perfect gift, these fun and sentimental craft ideas are sure to make your baby shower an event to remember
Alphabet blocks are perfect for both boys and girls, as gifts and as decorations! Depending on the intended size and function, you can either paint your letters straight onto wooden blocks or work with stencils and cardboard boxes. Decorate your box and allow it to dry, then cut out the necessary letter onto stencil sheet, like Brother’s ScanNCut Stencil Sheets, and secure it in place with stencil tape. Use a sponge to dab paint over the stencil, repeating the same letter on the remaining sides. Why not design and stack your blocks so that they spell out the word ‘baby’?
If you have clear baubles, ribbon and card, then you can make these super easy dummy baubles. Simply cut out a circle from card in the colour of your choice, then cut another, slightly smaller circle in half and trim around the edge to make a rainbow shape – this will be the handle of the dummy. Use double sided tape to attach the handle to the circle, make a hole in the centre and push the bauble top up and through the circle. Tie on a pretty ribbon, such as one from Hobby House’s Elegant Ribbon Collection and it’s done! Perfect as a gift, decoration or party favour, try filling up the bauble with sweets or tiny baby socks before you begin!
Every shower needs fun activities, and what better way to incorporate crafts into your event than by making a sentimental keepsake for Unborn Baby? Before your guests arrive, wrap an embroidery hoop, such as the Korbond 10" Wooden Embroidery Hoop, with wool and secure – this will become the hoop for the mobile to hang from. Set up a station with crafting supplies, including paints, pens, cotton, baubles, and wooden or cardboard shapes. You may like to opt for traditional pastel colours here, such as the Glitz Crafts Pastel Acrylic Paint Kit. During the shower, ask each guest to decorate a shape for the baby, however they’d like. When everything is dry, work together to string up the one-of-a-kind mobile.
Stitching bunting from old baby clothes is a lovely idea, but if you’re lacking the sewing skills, or simply want a quick and affordable decoration for your event, no sew bunting is for you! Pick out a variety of your favourite patterned papers, or buy a set of cohesive designs like The Paper Boutique Butterfly Ballet 12 x 12 Paper Pad. Measure out your flag with a ruler and cut it out, using the first one as a stencil to repeat the process. To finish, adhere the flags to a piece of ribbon with a hot glue gun, such as Crafter's Companion’s Hot Glue Gun. If you’re feeling particularly crafty, try cutting your paper into tiny baby socks and punching holes for the ribbon to thread through!
This fun baby shower decoration is irresistible, largely because it’s made from nappies! All you need to do is open a nappy and slot it over a large wire wreath form, with the fold on the inside of the circle. Tie the diaper closed with a piece of ribbon and keep going all the way around. Decorate your wreath with baby goodies and ribbon details, like our Satin Ribbon Two Tone Flower Pieces and it’s ready to hang up.
