About Bernadette Wainwright

I am one of the lucky ones who was taught sewing at school. Although my first project was simple, I was hooked immediately! I completed A-Levels in textiles, and moved on to DeMontfort University, Leicester. I am now a qualified textile and knitwear garment technologist.

I took a break from my career to raise my three wonderful children, and when the youngest started school, I returned to my career working for the country’s leading re-upholsterer and soft furnishing manufacturer as their fabric buyer, for 18 years.

Whilst I loved my job (and the opportunity it gave me to work with textiles!) it was not creative enough, so I left 3 years ago to start my own small Etsy shop, designing and making bespoke children’s clothes in the finest of fabrics. I also teach several wonderful sewing groups.

When I saw the shout - out on Facebook from Create & Craft for demonstrators, I applied and sent some photos of my work. In January, I attended a screen test, and since then, have made various commissions and blog projects. I recently did my first live show, and was the guest demonstrator on the ScanNCut CM800Q at Bolton Live, which was so much fun… I can’t wait to see what’s next!
