How to Make Butter Biscuits
Whether you call them butter biscuits, Sablés, Brysslkex, or Danish biscuits, we all know one thing for sure: these crisp cookies certainly hit the spot. With a crunchy texture and buttery taste, these light biscuits are simple to make and irresistible to eat. - 256g of Plain Flour
- 100g of Caster Sugar
- 125g of Butter
- 1 tsp of Baking Powder
- 2 tbsp of Icing Sugar
- 1 tbsp of Milk
- ½ tsp of Vanilla Extract
- 1 Egg
- 2 x Baking Trays
- Greaseproof Paper
- Mixing Bowl
- Wooden Spoon, Whisk or Mixer
- Cooling Rack
METHOD: Melt-in-Your-Mouth Butter Biscuits
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (160°C fan or gas mark 4), and then line two baking trays with greaseproof paper.
- Combine the butter, sugar and vanilla extract in a bowl using a wooden spoon, whisk or mixer, until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
- Add the egg, and mix further. Sift the flour and baking powder into the bowl, add the milk, and then mix to combine the elements, creating dough.
- Roll two teaspoons of dough into a ball, and then place onto the baking tray. Repeat this until both baking trays are filled with dough balls, or until you use all the dough up. Make sure the dough balls are evenly spaced as you do this.
- Gently flatten the dough balls using a fork, spreading them a little. Each ball should have enough room to spread whilst baking, without touching the one beside it.
- Put the trays in the oven for between 12 and 15 minutes, or until you see the biscuits turn a light golden brown colour.
- Once baked, remove the trays from the oven and leave to cool for a few minutes. Move the biscuits over to a cooling rack, and then leave them to cool. Dust with a little icing sugar, and they’re ready to serve!
