About Carla Bagshaw

I think I was crafting before I was walking! My Mum is super talented at all things craft, and we were always making something, be it macramé, papier mache, or sewing. She got a job as an Occupational Therapy Assistant when I was ten, and suddenly we were even more submerged in craft… and that’s when I first learned to quill! That was well over thirty years ago now.

When my eldest son was born with part of his 16th chromosome missing, my career was called to halt… and it was the best decision I’ve ever made. I began papercutting full time, and it morphed into quilling eventually.

That was over four years ago, and now I have the best job in the world. I get to be creative, experiment with different medias, teach others new skills, meet incredible people and look after my two wonderful boys. I wouldn’t swap it for the world!

Tell Us About Your Funniest Crafting Mistake…

Not so much crafting… but using my crafting supplies, I once superglued some shelves to a wall in my flat. In fairness they held for 2 years. But they also took down half of the wall’s plaster when removed. My dad did that shaking-his-head-in-shock-and-wonder thing that only a dad knows how to do!

Do You Have A Top Crafting Tip?

Always remember that you can. Your first attempt is no reflection of your ability. Everything can be achieved through practice and patience.
