Last-minute Christmas Gift Ideas

Tis the season to be crafting! If you've not had much time to make personalised gifts for all your family and friends, then there's no need to panic. With our simple festive guide you'll have plenty of time to create simple makes that everyone will love.

Cutting board spice rack

For the chef in your life, why not repurpose an old rectangular cutting board? Use screws to attach three small wooden boxes, one below the other onto the cutting board then add a leather strap for hanging.

Festive pillow

Create a plain pillow using red or green fabric. Stuff it with cotton filling and add a ribbon. Fix a miniature ornment to the ribbon for an extra festive touch.

Votive candle holders

Transform plain votive candle holders into Christmassy masterpieces your friends will love. Simply cut a piece of festive fabric to the same length as the holder's circumference then trim the fabric to shorter than the holder's height. Coat the fabric's edge with mod podge to prevent fraying, and leave to dry for 20 minutes. Affix the fabric around the holder with thin lines of hot glue and let dry for five minutes.

Peppermint sugar scrub

Gather your minature mason jars and create a sugar scrub your loved one's will adore. All you'll need is 125 ml coconut oil, 500ml sugar, one tablespoon pepermint extract, and one drop of green food colouring. Place the coconut oil in a bowl and microwave on high for 15-25 seconds or until softened. Add the sugar, peppermint extract and green food colouring to the oil, and mix until well combined. Spoon the mixture into your mason jar and decorate with twine or ribbon.

Monogram knits

Give plain wooly hats, scarfs or gloves a personal touch with letters or designs that your friends and family will love.

Memory jar

Decorate a mason jar with twine, ribbon and a gift tag with the recipient's name on it. Cut coloured paper into rectangular strips and place them inside the jar. The idea is that the receiver makes a note of all the great things that happen over the course of a year to later reflect on them.
