How to Cover a Book with Paper

How to Cover a Book with Paper

Why not customise your personal library with pretty book covers or give like to your old and worn books? Don’t splash out on a brand new book when you could create your own design using wrapping paper, wallpaper or other paper! It’s so easy to achieve and will look great once finished.

You Will Need:

METHOD: Beautiful Homemade Book Covers

  1. Choose a piece of paper, ensuring that it’s big enough to wrap around your closed book. Lay out your paper pattern side down, and place your open book on top – cover side down.
  2. Use a pencil to mark out the edges of the open book. This will be your guide. Cut your paper around the book, leaving an extra 1 ½ inches above the top and bottom guide edges, and 3 inches over the sides.
  3. Remove your book and fold the 1 ½ inch markings that you made at the top and bottom of the paper. Open your book again and lay it down on the paper, cover side down. By now, the top and bottom edges should match up with the edges.
  4. Centre your book by marking a quarter of an inch away from the right and left sides of the book. Fold the extra paper on each side over the mark and make a crease.
  5. Tuck the front and back book covers into the pockets you created in the extra 3 inch fold. You now have a personalised book to take pride of place on your bookshelf; personalise further by adding a label to the spine with the book’s title.
