Tips for Crafting Beautiful Paper Flowers

Create everlasting blooms with a few useful tricks

1. Choose your paper

If you're thinking of buying any old paper, think again! You won't get very far with card stock, as this material is too thick to create elegant shapes. Instead, purchase scrapbook pages or magazine sheets and metallic paper for intricacy.

2. Increase your craft stash

In addition to good-quality paper, you'll need a few other tools before you start crafting. Scissors, a glue gun, floral stem wire and floral tape should do the trick. The glue gun will lessen the time it takes to assemble your project, while floral wire is great for creating multiple stems to add dimension and depth. The floral tape will create the perfect finishing touch, while helping to keep your project sturdy.

3. Practice makes perfect

The art of making paper florals takes a little bit of time, so it's best to get to grips with the delicacy of this craft first. Master the basics and you'll be well on your way to creating eye-catching designs.

4. Create natural-looking flowers

Replacing real wilted flowers with paper florals may be the best thing you'll ever do. To ensure that your creation looks as natural as possible, it's best to curl your paper petals once they have been cut to size. Using the edge of your scissors, gently pull the paper through your fingers to curl the edges.

5. Be versatile

The possibilities are endless when it comes to making paper blossoms. Attach longer stems to your flowers and place them into a vase for a lovely display or fold the stems in half to make a pretty bouquet. Whatever you choose, you'll be sure to add personality to your home or party décor.
