Crafting a felt lavender bouquet

This is a really pleasing project. I love lavender (I’m a big fan of French Lavender), and this works up really quickly. It would make a wonderful gift if you wrapped it as a bouquet, they could be used as wedding florals or as a simple home décor piece.

You will need:

  • Felt in various colours (pink, white, purple and green)
  • Wire (thicker gauge)
  • Hot Glue Gun

Time to Make: 1+ Hour

Skill Level: Intermediate - Advanced

Instructions:

  1. planning Cut a 40cm length of coloured felt (any other than the green). It should be approximately 1 inch wide. Fold it in half lengthways; run hot glue over the bottom length, and press the top edge down so that you now have a long tube of felt.
  2. planning On the folded edge (not the glued edge) begin to snip the felt leaving approximately a 1cm edge, snip along the full length of the felt.
  3. planning Snip a length of wire (around 40cm) and using the hot glue gun glue the wire to the right side of the snipped felt on the glued edge not the snipped edge).
  4. planning Begin rolling the felt around the wire in a tight spiral so that it is glued along the length of the wire (you will run out of felt to roll about halfway along your wire strip).
  5. planning Cut a strip of green felt, around 1 inch wide. At the tip of one end cut an approximate petal shape. Beginning about halfway down the green strip, on the edge (lengthways) place a line of glue and stick the wire down (the leaf should be free of glue and about halfway up the lavender).
  6. planning To finish the lavender stem, roll the felt around the wire from the base up to the flower, securing it with more hot glue.
  7. planning Repeat these steps to create your stunning bouquet.
