Create and Craft presenter Dan Bancroft stopped by for a quick chat

Welcome to 2018, Dan! What have you been up to?

I've been trying to get back into the swing of things after Christmas and New Year; being away from the studio has caused me to forget the most obvious things. I’ve walked onto set ready for a show without picking up my mic which isn't very handy as a presenter!

What are you looking forward to?

I'm excited to attend World Wide Week – it's a huge deal in the crafting world! It coincides with the AFCI event in Phoenix where the biggest brands in the world go to showcase their new goodies. I was lucky enough to attend last year and it was a brilliant experience. I’m also looking forward to seeing the new SNAP die-cutting machine in action, and the Disney’s Toy Story collection.

On air we are welcoming some new additions, too. Last year we reached out to our crafting community for any viewers who'd like to share their talents, so keep an eye out on screen and across our blog for new ideas from other like-minded crafters.

I’m also really looking forward to Crafting Live in 2018. These are my favourite events to attend as I get to meet all you lovely crafters!

If you had to produce a brand new television programme in 2018, what would it be?

It would definitely be a fly on the wall documentary about Create and Craft. We produce thousands of live hours a year and inevitably things go wrong. We have many mischievous team members, too so it’s a very fun place to work. I think our crafters would love to see some of the high-jinx backstage.

How would you like to spend a perfect weekend getaway this year?

I’d probably head for the hills in the Lake District with my other half Emily and spaniel Pepper in the summer. Long walks during the day and a lovely pub meal in the evening by an open fire would do the trick. I'd also love it if someone else would drive us in a big posh car so I can snooze on the journey, too.
