Cushion Cover

Cushion Cover made with a Dawn Bibby Christmas Panel

A lovely way to make a beautiful Christmas Cushion Cover.

You will need:

  • Fabric Paint
  • Dawn Bibby Christmas Cushion Panel - Wreath
  • Batting
  • Green Thread

Time to Make: 2 - 3 hours

Skill Level: Advanced

Step-by-step:

  1. Cushion Cover

Take the Christmas Panel, cut apart from the floral panel.

  2. Cushion Cover

Cut the Merry Christmas Circle out from the floral panel and with heat and bond, iron on to the middle of the wreath.

  3. Cut some batting to the same size as the wreath panel and place behind it.

  4. Cushion Cover

With tiny stitches, quilt around the holly leaves with green thread sewing through the batting and panel.

  5. Once you have done this, take a piece of Christmas fabric and cut to measure the same size as the front ( I used another of Dawn's panels ) for the back.

  6. Cut the panel in two pieces widthways, one slightly deeper than the other, this will be the opening at the back.

  7. Fold down 1/4 of an inch turning inwards on each piece of the material ( on one of the long sides) and iron them flat. (This will be the envelope opening)

  8. Sew the 1/4 inch strips down flat on each piece.

  9. Cushion Cover

Take your front panel and lay it down right side up. Now take the two panels and lay them on top of the front panel, right sides facing, then stitch together round the edges. Turn out. You should now have an envelope backto your cushion.

  10. Cushion Cover

Finish off by sealing around the edge of the 'Merry Christmas' circle on the front with some fabric paint.
