Debbie Shore

Interview with Debbie Shore

Have you always been creative?

The beauty of live TV is that things are constantly changing. I love working with all our great guests. I pride myself in being able to present whatever is put in front of me and I love being the first to show off something new.

What is the first thing you can recall making as a child and who was it for?

I used to sew dolls clothes, and knit for my Camberwick Green characters and teddies!

What did you want to be when you ‘grew up’

I wanted to be a bus conductor, then tried for the police force before becoming a banker!.

Why/when did you decide you could make a living out of crafting

After the success of my first book, I was asked to write so many more it took over all of my spare time, so I decided to give full time sewing a go!

Do you have any other hobbies?

I like Restoring furniture, I’m trained in upholstery, gardening and DIY

What craft item can you not live without?

My sewing machine!

If you were stranded on a desert island and could only take 5 items, what would they be – and why?

A sun lounger, sun glasses, sun tan lotion, fridge and a thick book, a desert island sounds like the perfect holiday to me!

What’s your biggest ambition in life?

For my family to be happy

What’s been the highlight of your crafting life so far?

It’s always the launch of a new book, I still can’t actually believe I’m an author!

Any advice for beginners?

Be confident, don’t give up and enjoy your craft!
