5 fake feather crafty ideas

A weekend wouldn't be complete without making these fun DIY projects!

5 fake feather crafty ideas

Leather earrings

If you don't own a pair of faux feather earrings, you're missing out! These dreamy makes will certainly add a fashionable touch to any outfit. You'll need leather scraps, a feather template, fabric scissors, gold craft paint, a paint brush, French wire and split rings. Using the feather template, trace two, then cut them out. Use the scissors to make a fringe on either side of the feathers, then make a small hole at the top of each. Place a split ring through the hole, attach the wire, et voila! You've got a lovely design to show off to family and friends.

Hair grip

Jazz up a simple hair grip and make it into a new, snazzy accessory. Source a few jump rings, a faux gold chain cut in two at varying lengths, box clasps and two small faux feathers. Place a jump ring onto the hair grip, attach the two lengths of chain to the jump ring, then place two jump rings on the end of each chain. Attach box clasps to the feathers, then onto the jump rings to finish. Decorate as many grips as you'd like, changing the colour of your feathers and adding other accessories to the mix.

Painted feathers

Take inspiration from Native American culture when you make this simple design. All you'll need is a feather, acrylic paint and a paint brush. Paint the feather using whatever colours you prefer, adding dots and lines to the mix. Leave to dry then either hang in a special place in the home or frame it for a lovely artistic display.

Feathered wreath

A plain wreath adorned with feathers makes for a very interesting decorative piece. Buy a pre-made wreath, faux feathers, paint, a paint brush, glitter, craft glue and a piece of twine. Start by painting the feathers in a variety of colours, and adding glitter to a few for variety, then leave to dry. Adhere them to the wreath in whatever format you choose, attach the twine and hang in your home.

Party toothpicks

For a simple, but fun party décor idea, feathered toothpicks will certainly do the trick. You'll only need a few toothpicks, craft glue, white faux feathers, craft paint and glitter. Cover the feathers with paint, and add glitter to a couple if you'd like. Leave to dry then adhere to the toothpicks using craft glue. Once dry, stick them in treats for a stand-out effect.
