Fancy revamping your home décor? Read on for a few tips to get you started
Before diving head first into your upcycling project, think about the theme that you'd like to achieve. Perhaps you want to create a vintage or rustic feel to your living space. You'll have to think about the tools and equipment you'll need too, for instance, paintbrushes – it all depends on the idea you choose
While you need to have a theme in mind, it's great to use a little imagination in the process. If you've got a garden shed, head on over to see what old items you can re-purpose. An old ladder would make a great stand for vines, while old washing machine drums may be ideal for outdoor plant pots.
If you're not getting the clean results that you want with your painted projects, chances are you bought low-quality brushes. Cheap ones leave bristles in your work and don't give good coverage, so ensure that you spend a little extra.
Try not to worry about your upcycled project, particularly before you've even started! Aim to have as much fun as possible, as there are so many colours to work with and a vast array of ideas to inspire you.
Once you've got a completed piece, you'll need to ensure that you protect your hard work with a varnish for longevity – a couple of coats should do the trick!
