Full Circle Card

Full Circle Card

“Using basic shapes and patterned paper can change the look of a card completely with clever die cutting and a little bit of inking. This card is a beauty that could be recreated using any patterned paper, as well as experimenting with the centre shapes. Second generation stamping can change the look of a main image as well as enhancing it... this project has it all.” Ann-marie Vaux

You will need:

  • 7x7inch Square Blank Card Base
  • Circle Nesting dies – could be any size
  • Medium size Butterfly Rubber Stamp (approx 2 inches)
  • Geo style circle Rubber Stamps (could be any shape to stamp on a circle)
  • Sentiment Rubber Stamp
  • Extra white stamping card
  • 1 piece of patterned coloured paper
  • Ranger Distress Ink Pad to match your paper (I used Antique Linen)
  • Stazon Black Ink Pad
  • Selection of black crystals
  • 6mm Black satin ribbon for bow
  • Scrap paper for the 2nd Generation stamping
  • Tape Runner or Double sided adhesive tape
  • 3D foam
  • Scissors

Time to Make: Approx 30mins

Skill Level: Intermediate

Step-by-step:

  1. Cut a square 6.8 x 6.8 inches from your patterned paper and then die cut 1 circle frame in white cardstock measuring approx 1inch wide and approx 5.5inches in size. Then die cut a second circle frame slightly smaller in width than the 1st circle but with the same center die cut.

  1. Using the Distress Ink blend ink around the edge of the white large die cut circle frame.

  1. Attach the base layer of patterned paper on to the front of the card, then using 3D foam, attach the circle frames onto the front of the card.

  1. Die cut a white full circle smaller than the center of the main large circle frames (approx 2.75-3inches) then using the same ink, blend the colour center outwards on the circle.

  1. Using the Butterfly Rubber Stamp and using Black Stazon ink, stamp the center of the circle over the already ink blended middle.

  1. Take a small Geo pattern Rubber Stamp and using Black Stazon ink, stamp once on to scrap paper and then stamp on to the edge of the Butterfly circle towards the center Butterfly, do this repeatedly all round the edge, remembering to stamp 1st on scrap then stamp on the edge, this is called Second Generation stamping.

  1. Next take the same stamp as step 6 and stamp around the edge, just the edge, with the normal stamping technique using Black Stazon ink.

felt picture
  1. Attach the Butterfly circle to the centre of the card using a double layer of 3D foam, to give the circle height over the frame edges.

felt picture
  1. Die cut 3 circles, 1 in patterned paper, 1 for a stamped design to match the center and 1 for the sentiment of choice, all stamping in black ink for contrast and inked around the edge with the Distress ink.

felt picture
  1. Using 3D foam, build the 3 circles up in layers at the bottom right hand corner of the card, along the frame edge.

  1. Finish the card with a black tied ribbon bow and some black crystals around the center circle.
