Hand Embroidered Doggy Love By Kelly Anne Jordan

This project combines the classic art of hand embroidery with a modern contemporary style to make a lovely addition to your home décor” Kelly Anne Jordan

You will need:

  • Embroidery thread in 2 browns
  • Embroidery hoop
  • Embroidery needles
  • Fabric 9” x 9”
  • Free patterns Download Here
  • Frixion pen
  • Scissors
  • Glue gun
  • Light tablet

Time to Make: Approx 1-2 hours

Skill Level: Intermediate

Step-by-step:

  1. Print out the pattern and trace on to the centre of your fabric with a Frixion Pen, if you have trouble seeing it use a light tablet. Practice the Back stitch as shown on the template sheet.(The Frixion Pen is a gel pen but your marks will disappear when heat is applied to it from ironing)

  1. Place the fabric into an embroidery hoop.

  1. Start at the bottom with the out lines of the dogs with a dark brown thread. For the in side of the dogs alternate between light and dark brown randomly to fill in the image with the Back stitch.

  1. Remove the fabric from the hoop and Iron out any pattern marks.

  1. Before placing it back in to the hoop, draw around your hoop on to some felt and cut out. Now put your piece back in to the hoop and ensure that it is taught.

  1. Trim off the over hanging fabric so that there is enough to adhere this to the inner hoop. Use a glue gun to adhere to the inner hoop and then adhere the felt back to the back of the hoop to hide the back of the stitches.

  1. Cut a strip of felt approximately 2” x 1”, at each end apply some glue and place on the back top centre of the hoop. this will act as a hook for hanging. All finished Happy making. Kelly Anne Jordan
