How to Make Paper Pompoms

How to Make Paper Pompoms

Decorations are an important part of any party, creating a warm atmosphere to celebrate festivities. Homemade paper pompoms are very easy to create and are well suited for practically any occasion. Whether you want to hang down from the ceiling or line them through the middle of a table, there’s no doubt that your guests will be truly wowed by your seemingly arduous paper creations!

You Will Need:

METHOD: Pretty Paper Pompoms

  1. Stack up 8 sheets of tissue paper on top of one another. Starting lengthways, fold the tissue sheets together in a concertina style (back and forth like a spring), ensuring that each fold is about an inch in width. Continue folding until you have one thick strip.
  2. Holding the holds pressed together, curve off each end with a pair of scissors.
  3. Take a good length of jewellery wire or something strong to keep the sheets together – you want about 40cm worth. Carefully, but securely, wrap it around the centre of the folded sheets and tie it in place. If using wire, just wind the ends together.
  4. Keep the string or wire in the middle and spread out the folds, ensuring that you have an equal number on either size. One side will be the top and the other will be the bottom.
  5. Now comes the delicate part; separate each individual layer of tissue paper, lifting them up from the one underneath and fanning out them so that you have a nice petal shape. You should now have a puffed up, round pompom!
