How to Make Eyelet Curtains

Eyelet curtains are a popular style choice when it comes to home décor, but have you ever considered making your own? No? Well, believe it or not, eyelet curtains are very easy to make using eyelet tape and your choice of fabric! Follow this how-to if you'd like to add a splash of personality to your curtains.

You Will Need:

  1. Firstly, take your measurements to determine how much fabric you'll need to use. Measure from the curtain pole to the bottom of where you want your curtains to hang down to. Add on an additional 16cm for the top and bottom hems.
  2. Cut out your fabric (you'll need two lengths) and fold 2cm under on each side of the panel. Iron on a low heat setting and then fold under again. Pin in place to secure before sewing the hems.
  3. Fold 2cm under from the top of the curtain panel and iron again lightly. Take your eyelet tape and pin along the top edge of the fabric, before sewing to secure.
  4. Draw on the fabric around the inside of the rings and cut out each circle to create the eyelet holes, ready to secure the eyelet rings.
  5. Press your chosen eyelets into place at the front of the curtains, fold each panel 2cm under, and then iron. Fold an additional 10cm over again, pin in place, and then sew in place. This will be the bottom hem.
  6. Concertina the curtains to hang on the pole so you have defined pleats. You now have beautifully fitted curtains adorning your windows!
