How to Make Vegan Waffles

Just because you're gluten intolerant, that certainly doesn't mean you should miss out on deliciously soft and fluffy waffles for breakfast! This recipe shows you what you need to do to achieve sweet apple and cinnamon waffles, using gluten-free plain flour and baking powder. What's more, you don't even need to own a waffle maker or iron to make them; keep reading to find out how!

You Will Need (Serves 6):

Prep & Cooking Time: 20 minutes


  • 1 tbsp of Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 170g of White Whole Wheat Flour
  • 360ml Unsweetened Almond Milk
  • 1/8 tsp of Salt
  • 2 tbsp of Rapeseed Oil
  • 1 1/2 tsp of Baking Powder
  • 2 tbsp of Maple Syrup
  • 2 tbsp of Vanilla Extract

Optional Toppings:

  • Berries (Blueberries, Strawberries, Raspberries, etc.)
  • Maple Syrup


  • Large Mixing Bowl
  • Additional Mixing Bowls
  • Wooden Spoon
  • Waffle Iron or Waffle Machine

METHOD: Fluffy & Easy Vegan Waffles**

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk the almond milk with the apple cider vinegar and set aside. It should curdle slightly.
  2. Meanwhile, mix together the baking powder, flour and salt in another bowl. Add the rapeseed oil, vanilla and maple syrup into the almond milk mixture, and whisk together.
  3. Now you want to incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients. Make sure you mix them up well to ensure a smooth batter!
  4. Prepare your waffle maker and, once hot, spoon on a large spoonful. Cook for about 1 to 2 minutes, until golden brown and crisp.
  5. Top with a selection of your favourites fruits and a good drizzle of maple syrup!
