5 DIY Projects to Jazz Up Your Wall Area

Give your living space the gift of a fresh new look and feel with these five simple wall art designs.

5 DIY projects to jazz up your wall area

1. Decoupage Wall Art

There's something wonderful about stepping into a room to see a beautifully decorated decoupage DIY piece. Firstly you'll need to select a wall to highlight the room's focal point, then you'll need to grab a few essentials – including mod podge, scissors, lots of decoupage paper and paint brushes. For a classic feel, you could try using newspaper sheets, or destination-inspired varieties for a more worldly feel.

2. Rope Plaque

Adhering word art to a plaque using rope requires minimal skill. Gather a black marker, glue, rope and a piece of board cut down to the size that you'd like. Use your pen to outline a word or phrase you love the most, then using glue, adhere your rope by tracing over your written letters. Hang your finished piece in your living area to bring a bit of personality to your space.

3. Fabric Canvases

Beautiful fabric-covered canvases clustered together are eye-catching to look at and easy to create. Simply stretch patterned fabrics across multiple canvases and staple each, and voila! You'll have accent pieces in no time. You'll become so addicted to the craft that you'll make a variety to suit the change in seasons.

4. Paper Fan Hanging

With minimal effort you can turn patterned paper into pretty decorative fans to hang on your wall. You can use any colour paper, but we think that pastel tones are a great choice! Once you've made your fans, use gold paper to create a scalloped-edge around each make then attach string to each and hang for the perfect display.

5. Quilled Art Work

A quilled scene stuck to your wall can work wonders to brighten up a dull space. Roll pretty strips of paper into circles, shaping them and putting them together to create works of art. Once you've designed your make, adhere it to a wall in your living area and watch as guests' face light up when they see your design.
