How to Make a Lemon, Fennel and Prawn Pizza

For all the seafood lovers out there, this may be the perfect pizza of choice for you! Prawns and fennel is a match made in heaven – and what’s seafood without a dash of lemon? This grilled lemon, fennel and prawn pizza will truly tantalise your taste buds, making your mouth feel like it’s away on holiday in sunny Spain. A pizza can’t get much fresher than this combination of ingredients.

Ingredients for 2 Medium Pizzas:

  • Pre-Bought Pizza Bases, Dough Mix, or 1/3 of our Pizza Dough Recipe
  • 10 Raw Peeled Prawns
  • 1 Small Fennel Bulb (cored and thinly sliced)
  • 1 tsp of Chilli Flakes
  • Zest of 1 Lemon
  • 2 tbsp of Olive Oil
  • 100g of Coarsely Grated Pecorino
  • 100g of Firm Mozzarella (cut into 2cm cubes)
  • 1 Heaped tsp of Tiny Capers
  • Black Olives
  • 10 Cherry Tomatoes (halved)
  • 2 Handfuls of Shredded Radicchio


  • Bowl
  • Grater
  • Spoon
  • Griddle Pan or Barbeque

METHOD: Zesty Griddled Lemon, Prawn and Fennel Pizzas

  1. Prepare a basic pizza dough mix from a packet, remove pre-bought pizza bases from their packaging, or follow our Pizza Dough recipe to make your bases. Divide the dough into sections, depending on how many pizzas you want to make (this recipe makes two medium).
  2. Mix together the prawns, fennel, lemon zest, chilli flakes and oil in a shallow bowl. Season with salt and pepper, and then cook on a griddle pan or on your barbeque. Turn the prawns once, until they’re pink in colour and cooked through, and then set them aside.
  3. Cook one side of your pizza base(s) until grill marks appear. Flip the pizza over and spoon over the cooked prawn and fennel mix, along with cherry tomatoes, capers and black olives.
  4. Sprinkle over the cheese and cook on the griddle pan or barbeque until completely melted. Once cooked, sprinkle over shredded radicchio and serve straight away!
