3 Minutes with Nigel May

The Create and Craft presenter tells us three stand-out moments from the summer so far

Nigel May

“I loved dressing up in sports gear”

This summer has been brilliant so far. I loved the Game, Set & Craft event; it was a great excuse to dress up in lots of sports gear in the studio and film some rather fabulous videos for social media with guests like Sarah Payne, Dawn Wheeler and Sarah Trebilcock attempting to play tennis or crafty badminton. I loved the yoga and fitness links too with me, Dan, and Magic Hands Jimmy and Laura. I don’t think I have ever stood on my head on air before! The event reminded me what I looked like without a beard. I also loved the game show we did where viewers could win prizes from the ball pit we had in the studio. It meant a lot of diving into it and loads of low flying plastic balls.

“I'm so pleased to work with Debbie again!”

I love the fact that Debbie Shore is back with us. She was the first person I worked with when I used to present over on Ideal World – we did a curtains show together – I think she is brilliant. I really missed her when she was away from Create & Craft so it is just wonderful that we have such a great sewing and fabric expert back in house – another fabulous guest to add to the ever-expanding team.

“Living in Brighton is like being on holiday all the time”

Summer life in Brighton, where I live, is amazing. The beach is just down the road from my house. It is like being on holiday all the time. Brighton is such a happy, fun place – I truly love it. And having Elia live just around the corner is incredible. We love babysitting for her and spending as much time as possible watching her grow up. She is walking now and starting to form words too so we are seeing such a change which is magical. If we weren’t so close to her we might get to miss these things.
