BRIGHT N BOLD BLANKET IN CARON SIMPLY SOFT

Materials:

  • 5mm hook
  • Caron Simply Soft yarn for 170g balls.
  • 2 x black
  • 1 x watermelon
  • 1 x limelight
  • 1 x blue mint
  • 1 x mango
  • 1 x yellow
  • 1 x grape

Instructions:

Each round uses a different colour. To change colour, place hook through the chain space in any corner. Make a slip knot in the yarn and put on the hook and pull through the corner keeping tail at back of the work. At this point you start to crochet to the pattern.

ROUND 1:

Make a 6 chain, join into a circle with a slip stitch
3 chain, 11 treble into ring.
Fasten off by cutting yarn and hook tail through stitch and pull tight.

ROUND 2:

4 chain, 3 treble into the same space as 4 chain. *Count along 3 stitches/posts and 3 treble 1ch 3 treble in that space. Rep from * twice more. Miss 3 stitches/posts and in the same place as the beginning chain4, work 2 treble stitches to complete that corner. Join round with a slip stitch into 3rd chain of beginning chain 4. Fasten off.


ROUND 3:

Join new colour to any corner chain space with a slip stitch.
4 chain, 3 treble into that corner space, 3 treble into next natural space (between corners). [3 treble 1 chain 3 treble into next corner space, 3 treble into next natural space,] x 3. Miss 3 stitches/posts and in the same place as the beginning chain 4 work 2 treble stitches to complete that corner. Join circle with a slip stitch into top of 3rd chain of beginning chain 4. Fasten off.

ROUND 4:

Join new colour to any corner chain space with a slip stitch.
4 chain, 3 treble into that corner space, [3 treble into next natural space] x 2, [3 treble 1 chain 3 treble into next corner space, 3 treble into next natural space, 3 treble into next natural space] x 3. Miss 3 stitches/posts and in the same place as the beginning chain 4 work 2 treble stitches to complete that corner. Join circle with a slip stitch into top of 3rd chain of 4ch. Fasten off.

Sew all squares together in random sequence. If desired, work 3 rows of double crochet all around blanket working 1dc 1ch 1dc into each corner.
