Button Wreath

Create cute button wreaths in a few simple steps.

You Will Need:

  • Polystyrene wreath base
  • Chalk paint
  • Flat brush
  • Jute twine
  • Hot glue gun
  • Buttons
  • Scissors

  1. Select your polystyrene wreath base and paint it using a chalky finish paint, I have used a dark grey.

  2. Once the paint is dry, begin wrapping your jute around the wreath base. Use hot glue to hold the end in place, wrap tightly and every inch or so add another bit of hot glue to keep the twine in place. Keep the glue to one side of the wreath, this side will become the reverse.

  3. Wrap the whole wreath in twine, it doesn’t matter if the wrapping is a little uneven – the painted wreath base will show through adding to the look of the piece.

  4. Select a good quantity of buttons in a variety of shapes and sizes, to give my wreath a festive feel I have used a colour palette of white, red and green. Layer up the buttons to one side of your wreath, using the hot glue gun to hold them in place. Work from larger buttons to smaller buttons on your top layers.

  5. Create a bow and hanger from the twine and tie this to the wreath to finish
