You Will Need:

  • Cotton print fabric from Beyond Fabrics fat quarter bundle
  • Lightweight quilt wadding
  • Leather scraps
  • Decorative buttons

  1. Cut two pieces of fabric 15cm x 11cm for the outside of the wallet and lining. Place them right sides together and pin onto wadding. Sew around the edges, leaving a 4cm gap for turning along the bottom edge. Clip the corners, turn out, fold in the raw edges and press.

  2. Cut a piece of fabric 15cm square for the inner pocket. Fold in half right sides together and stitch around all the sides leaving a 4cm gap on the long edge for turning. Clip the corners, turn out, fold in the raw edges and press. Top stitch the opposite long edge.

  3. Place the inner pocket on top of the outer lining and pin, matching up the side seams and bottom so the top stitched edge forms the top of the inner pocket. Sew parallel lines 2mm apart down the centre of the wallet to form a spine. Stitch around the whole wallet to hold the layers together.

  4. Cut a 2cm x 8cm strip of leather and round off the ends. Pierce a line of five holes 1cm from one end. Place your hand inside the right hand pocket so you can hand stitch the strip to the back of the wallet.

  5. Cut a 2cm long slit in the other end of the strip. Close the wallet, fold the strip over the front and mark the centre of the strip. Place your hand inside the left hand pocket and stitch a decorative button to the front to hold the leather strip closed.
