This wipe-clean mat will help to protect your surfaces from spilt pet food, it could easily me made into a fun table setting for the kids!
Use a ¼” seam allowance
Cut two pieces of fabric measuring 10” square. Following the manufacturers instructions, iron the laminate onto the right side of one piece.
Spray adhesive to the wrong sides of the squares, and place together sandwiching the wadding in the centre. Apply bias binding around the edge. Start by folding over the end of the tape, sew the raw edges together along the crease.
To mitre the corner, stop sewing ¼” before the corner and take our work from under the machine. Fold the corner into a triangle, still matching raw edges, and continue sewing along the crease.
Overlap the ends of the tape when you reach the beginning. Fold over the tape and sew.
I’m a fan of hand-sewing bias binding, but in this case I found it easier to machine sew as the laminate makes the mat quite stiff, so I chose a zig-zag stitch to make sure I caught the edge of the binding on the wrong side.
Your finished pet place mat!
