Needle-Felted Easter Egg

  • Home Crafts
  • 1-2 hours
  • Beginner

You will need:

  • Piece of foam
  • two felting needles (medium and fine)
  • ten grams of core wool
  • Small amounts of carded wool (yellow, pink, purple, light and dark green)
  • The Makerss have a selection of felting wool
  • a small tool kit
  • and a starter, needle felting kit

Method:

  • 1

  • 2

Take your core wool and loosely roll it up. Using a medium needle, stab the wool about ten times on one side and then rotate wool and repeat until you achieve the egg shape (stab more at the top end to shape the wool like an egg).

  • 3

Keep felting until the egg becomes the desired shape and is quite firm.

  • 4

Take small pieces of the yellow wool and felt it all over your egg until completely covered.

  • 5

Felt some dark green wool around the bottom of the egg and about an inch up the sides.

  • 6

Add some light green wool above the dark green and felt.

  • 7

Roll a small piece of the dark green wool between your fingers to make it long and slender. Then felt onto the egg making small flower stems using the fine needle.

  • 8

Take some small pinches of purple and pink (or whatever colour you would like to make your petals), and then roll between your fingers and thumb. After this, place along the stems, shaping them like petals or buds.

  • 9

Carry on adding the petals or buds to the egg until you are happy. Then repeat the process to add more flowers around the other sides of your Easter Egg.

  • 10

You can add some ribbon to hang your Easter egg. I used the Tonic Dimensions Cupcake and Treatbox die to make a lovely gift box for my Easter Egg. This would make a great gift for family and friends (plus it has no added calories)!
