Ann-Marie Vaux’s Striking Floral Card

The contrast between the black and the bright colours makes this card super impactful and sure to impress the recipient. Follow these steps from Anne-Marie Vaux to create this spring make.

  • Papercraft
  • < 1 hour
  • Intermediate

Tools and materials required

  • 6x6inch white blank card base
  • Spellbinders 'Four Seasons' Designer Series Wreath Elements
  • Spellbinders Beautiful Dreamer Stamp & Die Set
  • White embossing powder
  • Silver ink
  • Heat gun
  • Assortment of different coloured inks to blend
  • Blending tools
  • White fine liner detail pen
  • Black general cardstock
  • White general cardstock
  • Dry paintbrush
  • Craft masking tape
  • 3D foam
  • Scissors or trimmer
  • Tape pen
  • Glue

Cut a black card layer to fit the white blank base card and attach to the front of the card using the tape pen.

Then cut a white card base to fit the black layer – do not attach this to the card yet.

Take the white layer and start inking around one of the edges, only on 2 sides – I used a citrus green colour.

Ink on the opposite edges in a contrasting colour , leaving the centre uninked – I used a rose colour ink.

Then ink towards the centre of the layer – I used a tea colour.

Then ink the centre, blending in all the white bits – I used a total contrast of an ocean colour.

Now attach the inked layer on to the card front.

Stamp the sentiment from the Spellbinders Beautiful Dreamer set on to black card using white ink.

Put the stamped sentiment card layer on to scrap paper and then put the white embossing powder on the top of the stamped sentiment.

Pour off the embossing powder on to the scrap paper, this ensures the image retains the right amount of embossing powder that it needs and you can put the rest back in the pot

Tip: Use a dry brush to brush away any excess powder that is not needed or has stuck to areas you just do not want it.

Use the heatgun to steadily heat the embossing powder until it turns shiny.

Use the die to die cut the sentiment, use craft masking tape to position the die before cutting, this ensures that the die is in the right place and holds it there, while you die cut it.

Add 3D foam to the back of the die cut.

Position the die cut in the centre of the card, over the centre inked area.

Select the dies you want to use for the florals, I used 3 of the Spellbinders Wreath Elements, the flowers, the leaves and the mixed leaf embellishments.

Die cut the florals & leaves in white cardstock and 1 of the butterflies.

Ink some of the leaf embellishments in silver metalic ink.

Heat emboss in silver the leaf embellishments.

Ink all the leaves in greenry tones.

Ink all the flowers in floral tones.

Add extra fine details free hand to the flowers and butterfly using a fine detail white pen.

Start adding some of the inked leaves around the right hand corner of the sentiment, use flat glue and 3D foam to get different heights, leave a slight gap in the middle you the flowers.

Add the silver leaf embellishments on top of some of the leaves using a touch of wet glue.

Then add a couple of the flowers mounted on to 3D foam, the flowers will cover the base of the leaves.

Now do the same and build up leaves & flowers to the 2 corners below the sentiment.

Finally add the butterfly on 3D foam to the remaining corner of the sentiment.
