Just by pulling each side of this card it reveals a three-dimensional design inside, then once the sides are folded back in the card is flat and ideal for posting. Don’t be daunted by it, once you’ve mastered the basics you can achieve amazing results every time.” - Sarah Jackman Read
Trim two pieces of white card 17x13cm. Cover one piece with patterned paper then cut a 12x8cm rectangle through it with a craft knife to create the front panel. The other piece of card will be the back panel.
Trim two strips of white card 17x2.5cm, score 2cm from each end then valley fold. Turn the front panel over then attach the flaps on the card strips on either side of the aperture to create slots.
Punch out a semi-circle either side of the front panel then trim two more pieces of white card 17x12.7cm. Score down each piece at 4.25cm and 8.5cm.
Cover the central panels on the pieces of cards with patterned paper. Cut out a 2cm notch with a craft knife in the centre of the central panel of one piece of card 2cm up from the bottom. Repeat on the other piece making sure it’s a mirror image of the other one.
Mountain fold the score lines then glue the smallest end panels to the ends of the back panel. Make sure the notches are towards the bottom.
Cover the back and side panels with patterned papers. Trim another strip of paper 13.5x3cm then cut away 0.5cm along the top and bottom leaving 1cm tabs each end. Score along the tabs then fold inwards. Thread the ends through the notches in the side panels then unfold the tabs.
With the front panel face-down, turn the back panel over then thread the end panels through the slots. Turn the right way up and push the end panels together behind the aperture so the card sits flat.
Pull out each end and the inner “theatre” of the card will be revealed. Decorate with toppers and a sentiment.
