V&A Collection Washi Card

A gorgeous combination of geometric design and beautiful floral print, this versatile card can be created for birthdays, anniversaries, thank-yous and more!

  • Papercraft
  • < 1 hour
  • Intermediate

You Will Need:

  • Washi tapes, paper blossoms, pink 7x5 card blank and adhesive pearls from the Victoria and Albert Card Making Collection
  • Leaf dies
  • Die cutting machine
  • Sentiment
  • Glue
  • Foam pads
  • Pencil and ruler

  1. Take the 7x5 card blank and draw a faint pencil line down the middle lengthways; this will be your guide, and can be erased once the project is complete.

  2. Take the first washi tape (sticky ribbon) and place it directly onto the card blank at an angle, stopping at the pencil line. Take the second tape and line the end of the tape up with the edge of the first pattern. Apply the third colour in the same way, continuing to line up with both the centre line and the previous tape strip. After three strips of tape have been secured down, start again with the first tape pattern.

  3. Continue until the card is covered in washi tape strips following the same pattern.

  4. Create three paper flowers by layering paper blossoms from the Victoria & Albert card making kit. Use two layers on two of the flowers and three on the final one to add variation and interest; alternate the colours of each paper blossom too. Secure layers of petals using foam pads or dimensional glue, and finish off each flower with an adhesive pearl in the centre. Fix to the card in the bottom left corner.

  5. Cut three leaf designs and slot behind the paper flowers, securing in place with glue on the ends only.

  6. Finish with a sentiment placed in the bottom right of the card.
