How to make a watercolour Coaster

You Will Need:

  • White Gesso
  • Paintbrush or sponge
  • MDF coaster
  • Cork for backing
  • Clear spray varnish
  • Black archival ink pad
  • Watercolour palette
  • Glamour dust
  • Stamped image of your choice


  1. Paint 2-3 coats of the white gesso onto the MDF coaster, allow to dry in between coats (Use a heat gun to dry quicker).

  2. Using the archival ink pad, ink your chosen image and stamp onto he coaster.

  3. Colour your image using the watercolour palette, then add a small amount of glitter while watercolour is still wet (must be a fine glitter).

  4. When completely dry, spray two coats of the clear varnish spray, allowing to dry in between coats.

  5. Adhere the cork to the back of the coaster using glue or sticky-backed cork.

  6. Admire your work.
