Create a card with a great surprise when the recipient opens it as it will pop open unexpectedly! Shabneez Khan-Muztar
Take a sheet of A4 white card and score at 7cm, 14cm, 21cm and 28cm on the long side. Turn and score at 7cm and 14cm on the short side.
Cut across 2 of the score lines lengthways and trim the edges to form the tabs.
Cover the strips with paper cut to 6.5cm square and matt with squares cut to 6cm square as shown. These will form the front of the cubes.
Cover the other side of the same strips with paper that is 6.5cm square.
Form into a cube as shown sticking the tab inside with wet glue. Do the same with the other strip.
Next you are going to form the base of the card. To do this take a sheet of A4 card and score at 7cm, 14cm, 21cm and 28cm along the long side then turn and score at 7cm across the short side.
Cut away the first 7cm strip lengthways and then trim the edges for the tabs. Cover with paper 6.5cm x 13.5cm.
Turn over and cover the middle section with paper cut to 6.5cm x 13.5cm.
Assemble the column as shown then stick in the final sheet on the left so you cover the tab and it looks neat. Adhere the 2 small cubes to this base with wet glue.
Cut a sentiment from the paper pack and matt with gold card. Make 2 hinged pieces 5cm x 1cm and fold in half.
Adhere the hinged pieces on to the middle column as shown and stick your sentiment on top.
Make a belly band cutting 2 strips of paper to 5cm x 13cm and the other 5cm x 20cm and stick together to form a band that the card once folded flat can slip into. The card once folded like this will fit in a 6 inch square envelope.
The final image shows the card open.
