A Z fold card, or sometimes known as a side fold card adds dimension and interest to your card before you have even started decorating it. Z fold cards will enable you to create beautiful cards, great for scene building but they fold flat so perfect for posting.
To Make the Z Fold Card
Cut 2 pieces of white card stock 11 x 4 ½ “ and 11 x 1 ¼ “ Fold the larger piece of card stock in half and reinforce the score line with your bone folder of finger. Fold the front of the card section back on itself and again reinforce the score line. Fold the thin strip of card stock in half and reinforce the score line with your bone folder or finger. Fold one half of the sections back on itself.
You should have folded ‘Mountain’ and ‘Valley’
Cut matts and layers for your card as follows:
Front left & Inside left Layer 1 - 2 ½ x 4 ¼ “
Layer 2 - 2 x 4 “
Inside main Layer 1 - 5 ¼ x 4 ¼ “
Layer 2 - 5 x 4 “
Z fold mechanism
Main front band Layer 1 - 5 ¼ x 1 “
Layer 2 - 5 x ¾ “
Inside left & inside right Layer 1 - 2 ½ x 1 “
Layer 2 - 2 ¼ x ¾ “
Using Distress Oxides blend the edges of your mats and layers, this will add interest and break up the harsh lines of the mats and layers. Layer up all your mat and layers sections and attached to card blank and Z fold mechanism.
Attach your Z fold mechanism to your card. Mine is positioned just below the centre of the card blank but this can go anywhere, it may be subject to your design. Then add your twine.
To Make The Flower
Cut 12 petals from the template provided.
Using Distress Oxide blend the edges of all the petals. Shape the petals with a bone folder or shape round your finger or a pencil.
Glue two together tip to tip, continue until you have 6 sections, then join 2 together to form 4. Once you have 3 lots of 4 use the Pin Flair glue gel to join them all together, slightly off setting them. The glue will help you to move them into position. Leave to dry.
Fill the centre of the flower with Pin Flair glue gel and sprinkle glitter over the glue, leave to dry. Once dry shake off any excess glitter back into your pot.
To make the Tatty Roses (make 2 or 3)
I have cut mine from an SVG file from my Scan n Cut. Alternatively cut circles using a circle die or draw round something circular. Cut a spiral into the circle, start narrow and then get wider and wider, this will give your flower a more tapered look. Start rolling the spiral from the beginning, when you get to the end slowly let the flower uncoil until you have the size of flower you like. Glue the base and attach the coiled flower to the base. Hold until the glue sets.
Remember the bigger the circle the bigger the flower. You could create different sized tatty roses. Squeeze Pin Flair glue into the rose centre, and sprinkle glitter over the glue to match the main flower. Leave to dry. Once dry shake off any excess glitter back into your pot.
To make the Sentiment topper
Cut 2 ovals of different sizes in corresponding card stock.
Stamp a sentiment of your choice on the smaller oval. Attach the smaller oval to the larger oval.
To assemble the card
Cut 2 small pieces of twine. Position 1 piece of twine under the large flower and glue the main, large flower to the Z fold band, so that it over hangs the band. Position twine under the oval sentiment and attach to the main section of the card. Position your tatty roses around your large flower and glue into place
