Tips and tricks for mosaic art

Tips and tricks for mosaic art

Craft intricate makes using the mosaic technique

Firstly, you'll need to gather the essentials. These include coloured glass, adhesive, a pencil, a marker, a hammer, grout, a sponge, paper towel, gloves and masking tape.

Select the foundation you'd like to adhere the tiles to. For example, perhaps you want to upcycle a plant pot or create a new framed display for your wall. You can also get plenty of inspiration by checking out Pinterest..

Use a pencil or marker to outline exactly where you'd like your tiles to go before cutting them down to size. When you're ready to cut your tiles, it's best to hold them over the space they are intended to go in for accuracy.

If you've got awkward gaps in your artwork, don't fill them with random pieces of tiles. You are better off spending time working out your tile placement or removing tiles to correct any mistakes.

Use a plastic container to collect the shards of glass as you're doing your project. This will save you a lot of clean up time!

When using different grout colours, it's best to use masking tape to protect the other areas of your work.

Don't forget to remove grout from the tops of your tiles. Once dry, grout sealer can leave a film of residue that can be difficult to remove.
