Looking to win over the heart of the one you love this Valentine’s Day? Homemade truffles are the way to go! Valentine’s Day truffles are an extremely decadent treat that are deceptively easy to make – but your Valentine doesn’t need to know that! Whip up these chocolaty delights, place them into a pretty gift box, present them to your sweetheart, and then expect the biggest grin in return.

  • 150g of Butter (room temperature)
  • 350g of Dark Chocolate
  • Extra 100g of Dark Chocolate (for coating)
  • 1 tsp of Vanilla Extract

Optional Toppings:

METHOD: Homemade Valentine’s Day Chocolate Truffles

  1. Divide up your chocolate into three equal parts (about 116g each). Place two parts into a microwavable bowl and melt in the microwave for 15 second bursts, until the chocolate has completely melted. Make sure you watch the chocolate so that it doesn’t burn!
  2. Add the last part of the chocolate to the bowl and stir until it melts into the rest.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk the butter until smooth and fluffy, and then slowly pour in the melted chocolate until it’s incorporated. Afterwards, mix in the vanilla extract.
  4. Line a baking tray with greaseproof paper and prepare a piping bag with a medium size nozzle, before spooning in the chocolate truffle mixture.
  5. Squeeze out small amounts of the mixture onto the baking tray to form small balls, and then place the tray into the fridge to set for about 15 minutes.
  6. While your truffles set, melt 100g of dark chocolate using the same microwave method as before, until completely it’s melted and smooth.
  7. Using a dipping fork or a spoon, dunk a truffle into the melted chocolate and then place it onto a plate containing a coating of your choice. Roll the truffle until evenly coated and leave it to cool and harden completely. Repeat this step for all your truffles; try dipping each few into different coatings, such as cocoa powder, grated coconut, nuts or sprinkles.
