Star Interview: Wendy Gardiner

Q1. How long have you been crafting for?

Since I was about 5 years old.

Q2. What was the first thing you ever made?

Clothes and bedding for my Sindy doll.

Q3. How did your crafting become your career?

Having produced a magazine for the Army in Germany, I got the job to edit the Butterick and Vogue Pattern magazines on my return from Germany. I’ve never looked back.

Q4. What did you do before this?

My first job was working for the Education Department of the Army in Munster, Germany, and one of the roles was to produce the monthly magazine.

Q5. Interesting fact about yourself or your crafts?

I eat, sleep, and breathe sewing! If I am not making samples for books, projects or work, I am sewing for myself.

Q6. Tips to make crafting projects shine?

Use good quality fabric. The simplest of designs can have the real ‘wow’ factor when made in a great fabric.
