Preheat your oven to 180°C (160°C for fan or gas mark 4). Line the loaf tin with baking paper and then set it aside.
In a large mixing bowl, add the flour, sugar, baking powder, bicarbonate of soda and salt. Using a mixing spoon, fold the dry ingredients until they’re well combined.
In another large mixing bowl, add three of the ripe bananas and then mash them using either a potato masher or the end of a rolling pin. Slice the last banana into equal rounds and add them to the bowl, along with the eggs, brown ale and melted butter. Using either a hand whisk or an electric whisk, beat the wet ingredients until they’re well combined.
Pour the wet mixture over the dry mixture. Using a mixing spoon, stir the batter until all the ingredients are well combined and the batter easily drops from the spoon.
Pour the batter into the pre-lined loaf tin and then bake the bread for 45 minutes, until it’s golden-brown and risen. Leave the bread to cool for 10 minutes after taking it out of the oven, and then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely. Once the bread has cooled, serve and enjoy!
