Baked With Love

Creating custom woodgrain paper is easier and quicker than you might think. I’ve used a rustic farmhouse colour pallet of light brown and a pop of red but I’d encourage you to try your own combinations. The stamp set used is perfect for a note card to accompany baked goods.

Tools and Materials Required

  • Dress My Craft mini score board
  • Lawn Fawn Baked with love stamp set
  • Doodlebug Ladybug twine
  • Heffy Doodle 12mm foam tape
  • Distress ink Tea Dye
  • Distress Oxide Candied Apple
  • 2.5 Inch circle punch or die cut
  • Red, white and kraft cardstock
  • Black ink
  • Red, Silver and White colouring pencils
  • paper trimmer and adhesive

Using a score board and score tool create vertical lines every half inch to a small rectangle of kraft card. This will create the lines between the wood grain panels.

Gently drag the tea dye distress ink over the raised score lines, use a light hand to make sure you have some darker and lighter areas within your faux woodgrain.

Stamp your focal image, mine is the food mixer, on a 2.5 inch circle of card. Using pencils to add simple colouring gives a great vintage look on kraft card.

To add extra depth and interest to your card you can layer the woodgrain panel on to a slightly larger piece of red card. Wrap both pieces with coordinating twine.

Add the circle topper to the woodgrain panel using dimensional foam tape such as Heffy Doodle 12mm foam tape. This will raise the topper from the base of the card.

Carefully stamp the sentiment to the bottom section of the card base using distress oxide candied apple ink. Be sure to leave enough room too add the woodgrain panel above.

Finish off the inside of the card with a white panel and a thin red strip so it’s easier to write your message and the colours continue inside the card.
