Celtic Heart Knot

Create a lovely celtic heart knot necklace.

  • Jewelry Making
  • < 1 hour

Tools and materials required

  • 2 x 1m lengths of cord (Top Tip: 2 colours will help visualised with the knotting process and looks great!)
  • Scissors
  • Necklace clasp
  • Glue gun and glue

What you will need.

Cut 2, 1 meter lengths of cord in this example 3mm suede cord had been used. Find the centre of the two cords by folding them in half.

Create a loop from the centre as shown, tucking the left end of the cord under the loop. The right end is now your ‘working length’.

Taking the working length, bring this length back on itself and tuck underneath the left length to secure, leaving a new loop on the right hand side as shown.

Weave the working length over and under the bottom left edge of the knot.

Weave the working length over and under the loops working towards the upper right hand side of the knot, finishing by pulling up through the final loop as shown.

Carefully tighten the knot to secure, this may require some adjustment to get the correct heart shape. (Top tip- keep your cords as flat as possible for the best effect)

Try on the necklace to find where you would like it to fall and trim the cord to the desired length. Finally, use the glue gun to secure the cords in the clasp. For extra flair you can add charms or beads to the cord or knot!
