Tools and materials required

  • A4 White Card stock
  • 6”x6” Card blank
  • Polka Dot Paper by Pinflair
  • Glitzcraft – Cocktails Stencils – Cocktail Glass
  • Glitzcraft – Pineapple and Orange Slices Background Stencils
  • Glitzcraft – Gold & Pink Glitter Paste
  • Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks
  • Circular Die for aperture
  • Acetate for window
  • Sequins in Tropical colours
  • Glue and 3d foam tape
  • Scissors, Paper Trimmer & Die Cutting Machine

Take a piece of 5 ¾” x 5 ¾” piece of white card stock and stencil the Orange slices all over using an orange distress oxide ink, then run that piece through your die cutting machine with the circle die placed centrally to create the aperture for the shaker window.

Die cut a second circle out of plain white card stock and stencil the Pineapples on to this piece and colour with yellow ink then cut the circle into quarters.

To create your shaker element, around the aperture on the underside (non-stencilled side) glue the acetate in place with tape or glue, once dry fix 3d foam tape all around the outer edge as this is what will hold the sequins and stop them falling out, making sure there are no gaps all the way around. I find it easier to place the sequins on the card blank in the centre and then I adhere the shaker window over them, I find it’s less messy that way. Make sure you press firmly all around the edges before testing the shaker.

Take 2 of the pineapple quarters and stick them in the top right and bottom left hand corners with 3d foam tape.

Using the Polka dot card stock from Pinflair I have used the Yellow design to create a strip across the middle of the shaker window and snipped into the ends to create a flag shape. Then using the Green polka dot card stock I have stencilled the Cocktail glass on to it using the Glitzcraft Gold glitter paste. It takes a few minutes to dry and then you can fussy cut around the glass and then using 3d foam tape I have stuck that on the card in the bottom right hand corner.

To finish the card I have stencilled the ‘It’s 5 O’clock Somewhere’ sentiment in Glitzcraft Pink glitter paste on to a piece of scrap white card stock and trimmed it to fit in the top left hand corner. You could make this card using various combinations of fruity stencils and colours of ink and pastes available from Glitzcraft and Create & Craft.
