What You Need

You Will Need:

  • White card
  • Burgundy card
  • Black card
  • Acetate
  • Sending Words to Friends Kit
  • Foam tape
  • Red line tape
  • Double sided tape
  • Tattered Lace Essential Squares

Instructions:

  1. To create the base of the shaker box: Cut a piece of white card so it is 19 x 19cm in size. Score the card at 2cm and 17cm, turn it 90 degrees, and score it again at 2cm and 17cm. Cut to the point where the two score lines meet at each corner to make a flap. Fold up the flaps to form a corner and glue. This is the base of the shaker box.

  2. To create the lid of the shaker box: Cut another piece of white card at 19.2 x 19.2cm, and again score at 2cm and 17cm, turn it 90 degrees, and score again at 2cm and 17cm. Using the no. 18 Essentials Square Die, cut a square on the centre of the lid. Cut a square of acetate to fit inside of the lid and attach with red line tape. Cut to the point where the two score lines meet at each corner to make a flap. Fold up the flaps to form a corner and glue. This is the lid of the shaker box.

  3. Cut a frame from burgundy card using the no. 17 and 16 Essentials Square Dies.

  4. Cut a frame from black card using the no. 16 and 14 Essentials Square Dies. Glue the burgundy frame to the black frame then glue to the top of the lid.

  5. Cut a piece of white card so it is 14.5cm x 29cm in size, and then score to make a card base. Cut a piece of black card using the no. 18 Essentials Square Die and a piece of burgundy card using the no. 16 Essentials Square Die, and then mat onto the card base.

  6. From the ‘Sending Words to Friends’ kit, take the largest square from the black and burgundy set and mat onto the card using foam tape.

  7. Using the scrabble letters, add the words ‘With Love’ and ‘Dad’ to the card using foam tape.

  8. Place the card in the box and add in a message using loose letters from the ‘Sending Words to Friends’ kit; the recipient can spell out their message on opening the box!

  9. Add the words ‘With Love’ to the front of the box.
