By selecting elements from a larger stamp you can create your own personalized card elements; the following project will show you how!
Begin by creating your card layers, for the base of the card I have used a 7” x 7” watercolour card blank. Next a black card layer measuring 6 ¾“ x 6 ¾“, followed by a kraft card layer measuring 6 ½“ x 6 ½“ and finally a white watercolour card layer measuring 6 ¼“ x 6 ¼“. To the centre of the white watercolour card layer, cut a circle aperture using a die. The circle I have cut measures 4¼ “ across. You can, of course adjust these measurements to suit your design.
Select your sentiments for your card, here I have used stamps from Altenew Dearest Friend Stamp Set. Pop the Kraft card square in to your Load ‘N’ Fold, align your sentiment stamp to the centre. Bring the lid down to pick up your stamp. Apply a generous amount of black archival ink to your stamp and press down the folder to transfer the image. Sprinkle over clear embossing powder and use a heat tool to set.
Next, choose your image to sit at the bottom of your card. I have used one of the flower stamps from the same set as the sentiments. Stamp the image on to watercolour card, as you did in Step 2, and again – heat emboss to set the image.
Begin colouring in your chosen image using watercolour pencils, lay down an initial base colour, take a fine brush and add water to make the pencils react.
Continue adding layers to your stamped image, create tone by adding highlights and lowlights. Dry your layers in between so you have control over your colour intensity.
To create the daisy chain boarder, continue stamping out the same image but you will only be using the one daisy. Cut around the daisy and repeat the process. For this size card I have used eleven additional daisies’.
Once you have all your images cut and ready, you can begin assembling the card. Place the main image to the bottom of the circle and arrange the daisy’s around the circle cut out. Always test your lay out before committing. When you find an arrangement, you are happy with; stick the images in place using foam pads to lift them from the card base. Raise the main image slightly above the rest of the chain to add extra depth.
Use double sided tape to mat and layer to your card blank to finish.
