Ann-Marie Vaux’s project intertwines the steampunk trend with a striking, vintage floral finish showing you how easy it is to dip your toe into the mixed media world.
Cut a layer for the base card in the purple card, the layer wants to be approx 1/2inch smaller than the card and then attach to the base card using flat glue/tape.
Using a large bracket style die, die cut the patterned paper ensuring the main section of the pattern you like is prominent to one side of the die cut
Use a small bracket style die to die cut an aperture in the bracket layer, this wants to be cut slightly to one side of the paper.
Place the bracket layer in an embossing folder and run it through your die cutting machine, to get the embossed pattern.
Using the lime green ink, blend ink around the edges of the bracket layer
Then using the purple ink, blend ink around the bracket aperture and then a little on the embossed pattern around the paper.
Without sticking the bracket layer down, place it over the card base and then stamp your sentiment of choice in the aperture, so it is in the right position, use a dark ink for your sentiment.
Using 3D foam, attach the bracket layer to the base card over the purple card layer.
Die cut the lattice die in the grey cardstock, I used a die that could be a used to pattern repeat the lattice, I used the die twice, so the die cut would be big enough for the card.
Then taking the same small bracket die that was used previously, die cut a aperture through the lattice.
Start tearing the lattice die cut around the edge into a shape, this does not have to be neat. Ink & blend the edges of the lattice with a dark grey ink.
Using a wet glue, attach the lattice shape to the front of the card around the aperture, matching the edges together.
Die cut a border frame in the purple card using the bracket die previously used the the sentiment aperture and a slightly larger one – Tip: Use craft masking tape to keep the dies in place and save them moving about when you die cut.
Attach the die cut frame using glue of choice to the card over the lattice around the sentiment.
Using the same Steampunk paper and purple card, stamp and die cut the flower layers, and leaves. Craft masking tape will keep your dies in place over the stamped image.
Emboss the flower die cuts using an embossing tool and an embossing mat to shape the flowers.
Build the flower layers up using wet glue to create the flowers and add stamens & pearls to the centres of the flowers.
Using wet glue attach the flowers & leaves around the sentiment at 2 opposite corners of it.
