A steampunk inspired card using quality kraft card and Versafine ink to create a distressed vintage make.
Gather together your cardstock (Kraft and Cream Card stock), your colour coordinated lace/ribbon and embellishments for your steampunk project. These can be buttons, wooden shapes, resin moulded steampunk themes the choice is yours. Pick a Steampunk stamp and 2 steampunk / grunge themed papers to use as layers and off we go.
Fold your A4 piece of Cream card in half to create an A5 card blank, now take your first paper piece and cut to 13.8cm x 20cm and stick this down centrally on your cream card blank, next cut a piece of kraft card and cut a panel measuring 12cm x 18cm and stick this slightly wonky onto the paper that is already stuck down. Then take your 2nd patterned paper piece and cut that down to 10cm x 16cm. Using a distressing tool or scissors distress the edges of the piece of paper and then stick this down in the opposite wonky angle to create a layered effect.
Take your chosen Steampunk themed stamp and stamp onto the remaining piece of kraft card using Versafine ink or Momento ink, now you can enjoy colouring the image in, I have used Polychromo Pencils which is why either ink will work but if you use an alcohol marker use Momento ink and if you are watercolouring your image use Versafine. Colour the image to match your embellishments and papers.
Distress around the edges of your stamped panel like you did on the previous layer and adhere it to the card using Pinflair bookbinding glue. Around the inside edge use a black pen to add a line detail on the stamped panel and you can add distress inks too if you would like.
Add your ribbon or lace down the left hand side of the card to add texture. Then we can look at adding the embellishments, I have used 2 metal filigree style corner pieces and placed them in opposite corners just over the stamped panel. Then I have grouped some wooden cogs into the bottom left corner.
To finish the card and to add balance I have used a piece of off cut kraft card and hand stamped using the wooden mini alphabet stamps that Trimcraft / Dovecraft make to stamp my own sentiment, which can be anything you wish to stamp. This is then just stuck on to the top right hand side of the card and that’s your Steampunk themed card all finished.
