Tattered Angels Poppy Card

Create your own shimmering watercolor styles cards using conquerable images from Tattered Angels, along with their stunning range of Glimmer Mists.

You Will Need:

  • 7x7” Card Blank
  • Black Card
  • White Card
  • Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist Italian Sunset
  • Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist Crimson
  • Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist Merlot Gold
  • Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist Red Rust
  • Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist Precious Metal
  • Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist Graphite
  • Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist Black Magic
  • Tattered Angels Image
  • Small Flat Brush
  • Fine Round Brush
  • Double Sided Tape
  • Foam Pads
  • Scissors


  1. Select your image to color and familiarise yourself with the image, taking note of the dark and light tones. It is also a good idea to take a photo that you can use as a reference as you work!

  2. Block out the whole image in a base color; for this design I have chosen Italian Sunset.

  4. Next, using a fine round brush – apply a mid-tone color to the mid grey areas. Here I have used Crimson.

  6. Go over the whole image in your base color, this blends the mid tones and brings the image layers together.

  8. Using darker colors and a fine brush, begin adding details to your shadows. Working in layers adds depth to the piece. For my shadow colors I used Merlot Gold and Rust Red. I used the tip of my fine brush to and fine lines to the petals to create texture.

  10. Add highlights to the tops of the petals where light would be – Precious Metals gives a great light effect.

  12. Paint in the center of the flower using Graphite and Black Magic.

  14. Finally mat and layer you card, cut round your image and fix in place using foam pads. For added effect spray one of your layers in a coordinating color to really draw the design together.
